Education
I've been working my way up in TV over the past 7 years to the point where I have a full-time production job and freelance on the side, but I want more. My passion is in shooting live sports - hockey, football, basketball, whatever. I'd love nothing more than to work on broadcast trucks all year long.
It's a bit tough in my city because we don't have a professional sports team so I don't get that many opportunities to work with long lenses and big crews. I'm hesitant to just move to a big city because it's hard enough to break in, let alone when the TV industry is hurting and the freelance market is (I'm assuming) getting more flooded with people who have been laid off. What I really need is the opportunity to get to use the big lenses and equipment on a regular basis. Are there schools that focus solely on live broadcasts? I came across TTOC from a video they have on Youtube (YouTube - HD Hard Cam) Here's a link to their website. Seems along my alley. Anyone know what kind of reputation they have? Television Technical Operators College Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
