editing film on dv
has anyone here had experience originating in film, then editing in dv?
I am curious what happens during the film to video transfer. 24fps to 30i. thanks. |

not that this helps much cause i've never actually done this...tho it seems intriguing....
http://www.pro8mm.com/ Pro8 upgrades super8 cameras and i think they do 16 now as well...they'll telecine you're film to dv. if you feel like going out on a limb and getting in touch with them i'm sure they have some info on this process.

I shoot film (16/35mm) to DV all the time. I'm in a PAL country so we shoot film in 25fps for the 25i transfer. I hear quite a lot of commercials in NTSC countrys are shot i 30fps for smooth transfer. However; most transfers can be done from 24fps straight to 25/30fps.
You can shoot super8 in 24fps. Some modified cameras can even do 25 and 30. I shot a feature film in 24fps super8 back in '94... The transfer was done in a Rank URSA.
