stinky FOAM
hey kids....
The other day i was filming a CD released party... All went well however, the FOAM that covers the mic STINKS like cigarette smoke. Same with the FOAM in the camera case. HOw do i get ride of that smell!!!! I tried airing it out... but didnt really work that welll! Should i spreay with FABREEZ?!? please help, Ozan |

The first thing I would try is soaking it in warm water with mild dish detergent. Then rinse well. Its probably a bad idea to ring it out like a washcloth, that could tear or distort the foam. You might try getting all that water out by holding it in your hand and flinging the water out (hand above your head then swing it down toward the ground, tossing out the water). Then let it air dry for a while. If you're in a rush, a blow-dryer on COOL setting would speed up the process.
I don't think water and soap will hurt the foam. That's how I clean all the foam filters for my car, and it always seems to work out well.
