Archos cinema to go
Has anyone actually used one of these? Looks like an interesting product, albeit a bit pricey.
The AV340 has a 40 GB hard drive, 3.8" LCD screen, s-video in and out and USB 2.0. It mentions that a firewire cable is available, but doesn't explain what the file transfer protocol would be. Anyway, it's a little video recorder that uses MPEG-4 SP at "near DVD quality". The screen is only 320x240 but it says the device itself supports "resolutions up to 640x468@25f/s". Then later in the specs under the heading "capture rate" it says "PAL 320x240@25 f/s" and "NTSC 302x224@30 f/s". Sells for around $700. They also have an 80GB model. Interesting product. So it looks like sort of an odd combination of features and specs, but perhaps points the way for similar devices with better resolution at consumer prices. BTW, their website behaved very strangely under IE on my Mac... |

Go to apple/support/discussion/imovie. Someone who posts on the site has purchased it and reported on it.
