I want to buy a digital camera like sony dcr-vx2000e, dcr-trv900, dsr-pd150p or canon xl1. Please help

To really be of any help, you'll have to give a little more information.

What kind of budget do you have?

What do you plan to use tha camera for?

What kind of experience do you have?

All four cameras you mentioned are excellent cameras but they each have advantages and disadvantages which make them more suited to specific tasks. So if you can provide a bit more info I'm sure you will find the answers you are looking for.

Also do a search on "Which Camera" and you will find that this is the most commonly asked question on this board and therefore lots of threads/posts which may help in your decision.

I have a budget up to 3000$. I am a news camerawoman for 4 years in a tv channel. I need a camera for personal use.

The VX2000($3200 list) and the TRV900($2500 list) are the only ones that fit into your budget. You could get a second hand XL1 if you shop around. For personal use I'd go with the VX2000 or the Canon XM1/GL1

I think you might want to look into the new Sony TRV-950 or its DVCAM version, the DSR-PDX10. These camcorders replace the aging TRV-900 and DSR-PD100 respectively. And it isn't only a question of your budget, but also what sort of camera you feel most comfortable with... a palmcorder like the TRV-900, a handycam like the VX2000, a hybrid shoulder-mount like the XL1S or a full-size professional camera like the JVC GY-DV500. All of these are within a $5000 budget, but the right camera for you is the one which feels the best in your hands. Some folks are intimidated by holding large camcorders, some wouldn't be comfortable without a shoulder-mount.

I am only comfortable with soulder-mount. I have been working with sony bvw 400p. I feel that handycams like toys for me

I think you should look into the JVC GY-DV500 and the Sony DSR-250. The Sony 250 is a shoulder-mount camera but it does not have interchangeable lenses. However it will accept full-size DV and DVCAM cassettes. The JVC DV500 is a true professional camera with interchangeable lenses, however it accepts only the small Mini-DV cassettes. Both are within your price range and both are available in PAL format.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the DV500 comes with lens, VF, mic or batteries. I looked into one a while ago and it was gonna end up costing about $7000 all up. Of course things may have changed and you'd be the one to know.

If your using a Sony 400p wouldn't getting another shoulder mounted camera just be defeating the purpose.

I've been using the XL1 for a few years now and am looking at getting an XM1 as it is smaller and lighter. I'd be more inclined to throw it in for personal stuff where with the XL1 I tend to only pull it out for serious shooting.
