EX1 Viewfinder Loupe
This is my first day on DVi and I'd like to share my thoughts and actions on the EX1 viewfinder and LCD swing out screen. I should mention I love the EX1 OK it's a bit fiddly but the vision is fantastic. My partner and I have been in the video production business for over 25 years (amazing I'm only 35+ yo) and have used full sized broadcast cameras until fairly recently. It is a delight to use smaller lighter cameras! Most of our work is outside and the EX1 small viewfinder is horrid and the LCD is, as one would expect, difficult to use in daylight conditions. 'Castrol Oil saves the day' I found a plastic oil container that when the base was cut out it fitted perfectly over the LCD. It was also very light in weight saving stress on the viewfinder's hinge. When the container's screw top was removed it left an aperture for a lens. Experimenting on the correct distance from lens to LCD for correct focus took a short time and then a bit of Velcro to hold it on. And it looks good. If anyone would like to see photos email me on
