Wide angle adaptors and filter step-up rings
Hello all.
I own a Panasonic DVX100B, and a recently acquired Samsung VP-HMX20C. The former has a 72mm filter thread, and the latter is 49mm. I don't have many filters as of right now, but due to the poor wide angle on the Samsung, I could really do with a wide angle adaptor. I was looking at the Red Eye (index) as this seems light (part of the reason for getting the Samsung was that is was small and light-weight, for portability and ease of mounting in strange places) and not too expensive. I am a little worried about the potential for CA and blurring towards the edges of the image (there's a video at Vimeo demonstrating this: Three Camera Shoot Out - Sony V1, Samsung SC-HMX20C, Canon HV20 on Vimeo). Anyway. Although I'm unlikely to use it often on the DVX100, since that has a pretty great wide angle already, I still like to have that option, so I was thinking of getting the 72mm version of the Red Eye, and then using a filter step-up ring so I can fit it to the Samsung too. I can't work out how this might be an issue, but does anyone know if it might? Thanks! |
