DV and SD Confusion
When we speak of SD (Standard Definition) does this mean that the recording format is DV? or can we can it be any other format as well?

SD can be any analog or digital format intended for NTSC, PAL or SECAM. 525 total TV lines (486 active) or 625 (576? active).
U-Matic, BetaSP, SX, DigiBeta, DVCPro, DV/DVCam, VHS, Hi-8 and more are all SD.
