"light" passing through titles?

I can't think of any different way to describe it...I want to have my company name in the center of the screen and have the effect of light shining the through the 'openings' of the letters. There is a major company that also has that effect.

Can you steer me towards the proper type of effect for this? Any tutorials on how to do this?

I use FCE 4. Thanks!

Mike, you pretty much answered your own question here without knowing it...

The youtube video is a render from the program " Blender " thats why the
video is called " Blender volumetric light title test "

the program is free, and you can get exactly what your asking for over at
the official Blender site...

blender.org - Home

the effect your after is called volumetric lighting...

Volumetric Light - AOL Video

From the manual

http://download.blender.org/document...I/ch12s05.html

If you like the youtube version then these are the specifics...

A random test of volumetric lighting in Blender. The text was created in Inkscape and imported in Blender; basically boolean difference of text and rectange (did this in Inkscape because it also works on curves and Blender's mesh CSG was slow as hell). Font is Vampiress from BlamBot.

Here is one other solution to your request, and probably easier...

The program is called Vitascene....
look on the site below and download the footage "Impressive Effects for Titles and Logos"

proDAD - Vitascene Samples

You can do this with with Motion pretty easily. Do you have the FCP Suite or just FCP 4?
