Theme song editing
Hello everyone, I do allot of skits and would like to know if there is a free site that has theme songs or sounds of well known commercials or programs. For example I currently want to do a skit with the Apple/ipod theme music.

"Real" songs are not free, but .99 cents is pretty close to free!

But then of course, when you buy a song for .99, it does not give you the right to reproduce it in your projects. There are a whole list of legal issues and types of rights associated with music-- but that is for another day.

Yes, like copyright issues on the music, master reproduction rights to put it on a CD, synchronization rights to use it in a film, performance rights to use it on-stage, royalties, etc. Especially "theme songs or sounds of well-known commercials" are almost certain to be copyright and it's likely to be difficult to obtain permission to use them. There are some provisions in the law for use in parody without permission but it remains to be seen if that would apply to you.
Just what are the skits you do - performing for for friends and family, bits for broadcast, standup comedy, what? If all you're doing is entertaining friends and family as a hobby, then no problem, who's to know? But any public performance or broadcasting uses, you have to cover your bases with regard to the rights of the copyright owners.
