Sony DSR 11 deck and 16:9???
Hello.
I bought a Sony DSR 11 deck a few years ago to use with FCP. It worked great, copying miniDV master tapes from the camera then as the capture deck for FCP. Till now I'd only been shooting in 4:3. I have a new camera now and am shooting in 16:9 SD. I've read the Sony manual from front and back and see no mention of aspect ratio in it. Can it copy 16:9 minDV SD tapes? Can FCP capture 16:9 from it if I put the camera's 16:9 miniDV tape in it? Or is this deck only designed for use with 4:3 ratio? John |

Hi John,
The DSR-11 will work fine with 16x9 shots. When you shoot widescreen there is an electronic pulse (flag) added to the signal that tells decks & monitors to change the aspect ratio. The DSR-11 passes on these flags so all should be good. |
