How to write music video scripts?
Hey!
Do you have tips how to write music video scripts or music video storyboards? Are there special 'rules' especially for music videos? Does someone here has a music video screenplay to look at? regards |

Hey Stefan,
Take a look at Nigel Dick's site, he's as big as they come in music videos. He has a page called Dick Teach where he basically answers your question, plus he's included a Conceptual page that have his treatments. http://www.nigeldick.com/ |

If you are doing a music video like THRILLER, complete with actual scenes and dialogue, a script is needed. I’ve not seen the script for THRILLER but it is either written in a traditional screenplay format or it is written in the traditional two column audio visual script format, dialogue in one column, camera shots in the next column.
If you are doing a standard music video, just singing from start to finish, a traditional script isn't needed, however a detailed storyboard and shot list is. There is a book out titled “Making Music Videos: Everything You Need to Know from the Best in the Business”. You can get it at Amazon.Com for about 20 bucks. Good luck.
