URGENT! OK to use Anton Bauer Li-Ion Dionic batteries w/out first charging?

Hi guys,

I just received some Anton Bauer Dionic 90's and was supposed to receive the charger as well, but it didn't come. I have a shoot tomorrow that I'd really like to use these for, but the packaging on the battery says to charge the battery fully before using for the first time. Is this true, or am I safe to use the batteries? Thanks!

Peter

Charge them first. Ring around local stores, see if someone has or knows where you can charge them. Try your local TV outlet. Good luck.
Cheers.

I don't think AB batteries are shipped fully charged. They are normally totally discharged ...

It won't harm the batteries if you don't charge them first, but they're probably not gonna last more than 15 minutes...

I would go by the "Power Gauge" on the battery. (The remaining time depends on your current load, so the initial reading, when not connected to a camera may be optomistic.)

Try finding a local TV station or production company to charge your battery. They may even have a charger that they could lend you. Or they could lend you another battery while they charge yours.

Hey guys,

Thanks so much for all the help. Heiko was right: the batteries only had about 15 mins of charge each as delivered, so I ended out using my HVX for the shoot instead. I made a couple calls to find a charger locally (here in Portland) but couldn't find anything at a late hour on short notice. Charger comes Wednesday, so all will be well soon :)
