colleges/universities
does anyone have any high recommendations for colleges on the east coast that have digital video programs?? i went to UCF in orlando for film in 98 but alas, quit after two years, before even entering the program. having worked with digital video for the past year it just seems to make sense for me to move in that area. im currently in VA, i know VCU in Richmond has a great art school, and they do have some video classes, but not very much of anything to speak of. i would have to major in art and specialize in video, doing an independent study or something like that. a lot of schools have broadcast journalism, but im not really looking to move into a news/sports cameraman position. are there any programs that provide similar production values to film (lighting especially - so important). It would be great to hear some word of mouth or first hand experience from others out there with degrees already or working towards it.... Thanks!!!

Look into Temple University in Philadelphia. I'm a '89 grad from the undergraduate program in the School of Communications and Theater. The department has been restructured since then so get on their web site for current information.
My training was excellent. All aspects of production is covered and practiced. The student designs there own course work, therefore you could certainly concentrate on production versus theory, etc., although you will have great theory classes as well. There are many opportunities to take the equipment out on shoots, The more organized you are, the more you can accomplish. Lots of luck. Julia Beatriz Moreno SCAT '89
