With new cheaper SD drive cameras - can you record live?

With the decline of the mini-dv and firewire that goes along with it, what are people going to do about recording live without the firewire? Is USB going to be the next wave

My guess is that anybody who wants to capture live from a solid state camcorder would have to do so through HDMI, component, HD-SDI, or something similar.

I thought that too, but with cameras becoming so darn cheap, running a multi-camera setup with 4-5 sub $150.00 camera is becoming a reality. Trouble is, how you do get the cheaper cameras without Firewire or HDMI, component etc to output live?
