XL-1 microphone plug to HV-20 ?
Is there any way to convert the two pronged XL-1 microphone plug to fit into the one plug HV-20?

Hi John.....
Yes there is, but it's not as easy as you'd think. The larger stereo "prong" on the double plug is Ground, Left and Right audio. The smaller mono plug is +5 volts (the tip is, anyway).
Therein lies the problem. There is no ready source of +5 volts on the HV20. I built a teensy weensy plastic box with a 9 volt battery, 5 volt regulator and appropriate double socket to accept the mic plug with "flying leads" for the subsequent Ground, Left, Right O/P only, to use the mic on the end of a boom. Worked a treat (still works a treat). If you're a bit handy it's do - able, but real estate on the HV20 is at a bit of a premium so don't know where you'd park the box. If you'd like more details I'd be happy to oblige. CS |
