SATA and ATA work together?

I am bout to buy a new hard drive and I have a western digital internal ATA hardrive, and I was just wondering if a SATA could work with the ATA.

Can it?

They are on seperate controllers so you will be fine. Only thing that _may_ need some fixing is boot settings in BIOS(only needed if the computer tries to boot from your new drive).
