3d view from vid or still?

what apps would be good to create a 3d view from a vid or still clip? i have access to after effects, and i know that does some kind of 3d stuff. im doing a project that involves a armor type of system and i think it would be kool to spice it up by creating an intro for it where i could show a 3d model (have it rotate around it). i have vid of the plates for this system as well as stills on and off a person. anyone understand what im attempting to do?
