Creating empty video in Premier 6.5

Ok, newbie question for you all.

I want to fade to black for a couple seconds. In Final Cut, this was relatively simple, I just inserted some empty video and did a cross-disolve into this. Now, I'm sure this is possible and really easy to do in Premier, I just haven't figured it out yet. Anyone know how to do this?

thanks...

Just reduce the opacity of the scene when you want it to go black, or use a fade to black disolve.

You can also go File>New>Black Video, which will add a black clip to whatever bin is open at the time.

How do I adjust the opacity of my first video track? Or where can I find the fade to black dissolve?

thanks for the info :)

If you click on the arrow button next to the title of the video track it should widen the track, and a red line should appear towards the top. Move mouse over to end handle and drag down. This will then fade to black the whole clip. Add more handles in if you only want it to fade at the end. This will only work on video tracks 2 and above.

If your video is in tack 1a or 1b just put a cross dissolve at the end/ beginning of the clip and make shure there is no video above the transition. Add black at end to make it last longer.

Hope this helps,
