XL1 DV terminal - to - IEEE 1394 Firewire card
So..I ran out and bought the IKEBANA Fireblaster IEEE 1394 PCI FireWire card for my pc. I noticed the XL1 DV terminal is of a different configuration than the IEEE 1394 Firewire card. Is there an interface cable ? Are they common and easy to locate ? My friend recently purchased a laptop with the DV terminal onboard, and we assumed that this was a Firewire terminal.
Now when I go to Fry's and ask for the XL1 DV terminal - to - IEEE 1394 Firewire card cable, will they scratch their head and give me that "lost in the store" look, or will they have any idea what i am talking about ? Should I consider buying the cable elsewhere ? Thanks, Will Major Sacramento, Ca the916@attbi.com

I think you're looking at a four-pin vs six-pin input. Firewire cards use the six-pin input (DV plus power) while cams use the 4-pin (no power). Cables made this way (4 to 6) are common and generally come with the camcorder. I use one with my VX2000 when I edit but use a 6 to 6 for my firewire-networked PCs. See the difference at http://www.shortcourses.com/video/chapter08.htm
