need help started in editing
I have a very good camera, and although i do not need to do editing, i know that at some point down the line i will need to.
My question is not how to edit but what to i need to get started. Basically i am purchasing Avid Xpress since i have windows, and eventhough i do not have a deck, i am thinking of doing a firewire transfer from my camera. I know that it is not reccomended, but would like to do it once throughfirewire. I have a sony dsr390 which has a great picture quality, i am not sure which firewire cable to get, but i know i need to get one...if you know which one let me know thanks. If i know somone with a deck, can they somehow give me the files in a dvd for me to put them in my computer and edit? I understand that my computer needs to be able to proccess this all. I have an intel pentium 4 hewlett packard. I am thinking that if i get a 256 or 400 gigabyte harddrive i should be enough. But aside from the memory space, editing program, and firewire, what else might i need? Do i need a video card (i don't even know what video card i have)? If anybody knows what else i may need including an approximate cost, please let me know. I will be greatful for all your help. Thanks Robi |
