Suggested card and software for XL1s

I am a new user of this forum and am thinking about buying a Canon XL1s or a Sony PD150.

On reading I hear that there are more problems with firewire cards and software for the Canon as opposed to the Sony.

Can anyone recommend a tried and tested card/software for the Canon. I live in Australia and the Camera is a PAL system.

A tech at Canopus here in Oz felt that I would have less problems with the Sony. He indicated they had problems with the XL1 but did not know about the XL1S.

I really like the Canon, but I need to have a trouble free setup.
I will be editing large video files. (60 minutes of video). This will not be major editing - Titles, a few transitions and maybe moving a few frames. I also need to be able to record back to the DV tape in the camera with the final result.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Any OHCI compliant firewire card should work fine with the XL-1. I use a SIIG OHCI firewire card with Vegas with no problems.
