Using Boris

Is anyone familiar with Boris AVX V 3.0?

Today I installed a Boris demo version, which seems to be quite complete, in my quest for a way to do a "graduated-ND-like" in some of my shots.

What I need is to superpose an horizontal filtering that would allow me to separately correct some highlights on some scenes.

One of them is a sky I would like to darken and add some dusk effect too. The other to darken some bright spots on the background of a theater.

The problem with the Boris, and other things in Avid Xpress and most editing programs too, is how things are called. I mean how would they call this I am trying to do?

Has anyone done something similar to what I described in Boris or Avid Xpress?
