HDCP support "fiasco" in ATI/Nvidia cards

Not sure if this is proper forum for this. Anyway, came across this at HDforIndies. However, below is a direct link to the story:

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/..._hdcp_support/

Apparently both ATI and Nvidia have claimed that their cards have HDCP support, however the article finds the contrary. Since HDCP is requirement in order to view copyrighted HD material, many new workstations purchased today might not be able to playback this content.

The issue with HDCP and the HDMI connectors was a factor in my decision to wait for year until I purchasing my new 40" Sony Wega HDTV. I never considered the same issue for the PC end of things.
