H.264 deinterlacing?
Hello,
Can someone please tell me if it's necessary with H.264 encoded videos to deinterlace interlaced footage (for example resolution 640x512 for PAL)? With Sorenson 3 Pro I have experimented that it's not needed, but looks like the new H.264 doesn't look very good if encoding directly the interlaced video. Additionally, which software is the best for encoding H.264? So far I've been trying with Quicktime Player, but I'm sure there are some better options. Thanks a lot! |

It is a good idea to deinterlace any video destined for the Internet. As far as encoding H.264, the Sorenson encoder should do a pretty good job. If you are happy with it there would be no need to get something else. Or was there something you didn't like about the quality you were getting from the Sorenson encoder that led you to try QuickTime Pro?

download the h.264 test clips that i have on my website, i think that you'll be impressed with the nero encoded clip, over the sorenson clip.
