Video Logging Program at DVinfo.net

Hey guys,
Wondering if you knew any programs that were good for logging video. I have all these old tapes of short random bits of video that I would like to label and be able to search and take a look at on the fly. Things like day or night, who's in it ect. There are lots of photo programs like this. Most programs (windows included) let you only see the first frame as a thumb nail. Most of my first frames are black. I love the way I can search and play around with MP3s in musicmatch or winamp. Is there anything out there that you guys use?
