Unlocker 1.6.4- indespensible freeware Windows utility for power user

This is a great little app I found, enjoy! (no spyware etc.) Basically when a file is locked, for whatever reason, right-click choose unlocker (this program), and it pops up a screen telling you what is locking the file and option to unlock it.

Ever had such an annoying message given by Windows?
It has many other flavors:
Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Cool little program, i'll have to give it a try!

That'll save me from having to delete them through DOS!

Cheers,

I use a similar program called WhoLockMe. It shows me which process has a
file locked. Fortunately (yes, you read that right) it does NOT allow anyone
to unlock a file. Why is this fortunate? Because if a process has locked a file
it is a good thing (except for the Explorer AVI locking problem, however, I
solved that differently) to leave it locked. I either close the application or
reboot. I do not want my files corrupted by manually lifting a lock (which in
theory should not be possible unless they install some device driver).

Be careful with such a program!

"I either close the application or reboot."

Reboot? Rob if you have a critical file that you think is being written to or something yes don't mess with it, the program tells what is 'locking' it, other than that remote possibility unlock the file and do what you want to it. Also, this has nothing to do with device drivers.

No need to fear! but its only really useful if your routinely getting locked files in the work that you do.
