light flare/overexposed negative effect
i'm currently editing a music video on my PC, combining avid express, premiere pro, and after effects. the video has been shot on DV via XL1.
I want the video to start the video with that crazy white orange blob of light you get when overexposing a negative. Does anyone know of an easy way to recreate this effect?

With overexposed film footage, I think of white blobs with colored fringes around it (not to be mistaken with what video does). To get that effect, bring up color curves in Premiere Pro and make the top of the curve really shallow/flat horizontally (but not totally horizontal).
Does that do it??? 2- If you do this, you should shoot your original video with proper exposure and not overexposed as video will color shift your highlights. |
