Glitchy output

When I output video from my computer to my camera hooked up by firewire, it comes out SUPER glitchy. Do i need a new firewire card? If so, which card should I get, and can I get it at a best buy or comp usa.
thanks

We need more information:

1) camera brand + model

2) edit software you are using to output this tape and have you tried others

3) project settings in your edit software

4) how you are exporting including settings

5) define "SUPER glitchy" and how do you detect this

6) why do you think the firewire card is the problem and have you tried others

7) what cable are you using and have you tried others

8) operating system you are running

etc.

I have the Panisonic dvx-100, with adobe premier pro. It's super glitchy becaseu when im exporting to tape, its all scrambled. I am exporting through firewire, running on windows XP. I just started doing this a month ago, but never did it a few months ago. As for export settings i'm not sure, i'm at work right now.

Please fill in the rest (I've also added one):

1) Panasonic DVX-100

2) Premiere Pro. Which version and have you tried others?

3) project settings in your edit software?

4) how you are exporting including settings?

5) define "SUPER glitchy" and how do you detect this?

6) why do you think the firewire card is the problem and have you tried others?

7) what cable are you using and have you tried others?

8) Windows XP. Which edition?

9) Have you defragmented lately?

How are you detecting it is "super glitchy"?

Greg,

Just to add to Robs list...

Are your heads on your camcorder dirty?

Does it happen on preview. i.e. playback through firewire when editing? or only on Exporting?

What speed are your harddrives?

How much space do you have free on your HDs?

Do you have anyother programs running in the back ground while exporting?

Thanks,

I would try another cable and camera, as you'll be able to output your project and determine if it's your computer that is bad or the cable or the camera.
