9800GX2 + SLI + After Effects CS4 + Open GL = Crash! -- Please help!
So the 9800GX2 is really two 9800s, which can be used in SLI to improve rendering and gaming performance.
I have this card in my super computer (along with an additional 7800 which I just use for the additional monitor real estate and I disable in Device Manager so as to enable SLI on the 9800). With the 9800, if SLI is disabled, and the computer sees two separate 9800s, Open GL rendering functions just fine, however I'm not using the full potential of my expensive GPU. If I SLI my 9800 in the nVidia Control Panel (which requires me disabling the 7800), and I tell After Effects to utilise Open GL, After Effects crashes every time. So, my question is, how do I make 9800 SLI + Open GL in After Effects function? I don't like the thought that I'm wasting precious processing power of my video card just because the software doesn't understand the SLI technology. Can anyone advise me here? |

It might be a driver problem, try upgrading the drivers to see if that helps.
If it doesn't, it's a little snafu that you'll have to deal with since there probably isn't a solution. |
