Capturing "TV SNOW" for effect But Blue Screen Blues
Has anyone run accross trying to capture broadcast "snow" (no channel tuned) from cable source but when no channel is tuned, there is the Blue Screen which blocks audio and the snow.
This "feature" is apparently on most if not all new vcrs and tvs but perhaps someone has a work-around or an alternative source for VIDEO SNOW. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. JTBEST |

You could make it yourself if you want (I don't know what kind of shot you want, I suppose if you want the TV in the shot it's different.) Are you looking to capture it directly from the TV to a camcorder? I would see if there's a video-out on the back of the TV so it doesn't have to go through the VCR (and subsequently get 'blocked' by the blue screen). Or, if you want to make it yourself, just go into Photoshop and make a few frames of noise, then loop it.

Thanks Alex
Vid out on the tv may do the trick. Didnt think of that. So obvious too. I wanted to use the snow as a channel changing transition/fx. Thanks again for your help. JTBEST |
