PC freezes when Camcorder is plugged in to Firewire
Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help me, i've recently bought a Sony DCR TRV17E Handcam camcorder and shot a whole heap of footage whilst i was on holiday. I'm now trying to get the footage from the handycam onto my PC. I bought a IEEE 1394 Firewire card for my PC, installed it, and it all seems fine. However when i plug the Handycam into the Firewire cable and turn it on, the PC freezes. WHen i turn the camera off, it comes back. I'm running Windows 98 Second edition and have tried updating / changing the drivers but i haven't had any luck at all. anyone got any ideas ?? Cheers Mike |

Mike,
For video editing, it is best to use Windows 2000. Windows 98 just isn't stable enough for the loads imposed and commonly causes problems
