It depends on what kind of work you do and which interface makes more sense to you.
Edition more real-time Vegas less buggy better interface? better for audio editing |

Glenns hit the nail n the head, but pinnacle DO have some surprises which I wish would come to Vegas.....
Timeline DVD Authoring.. basically you can create your DVD within the timeline... Mind you Architect is so damn easy that a marker on your timline doules as a chapter point... pretty much the same, btu not as integrated as the direct to dvd burn function in the Pinnacle product. Hollywood FX... sometimes a bit of tackiness is a good thing... people love seeing themselves used in effects and they love seein the flashy little animations... Depends on your market, but i use Studio7 with Hollywood fx, render to DV then import to Vegas... so i havethe best of both wrlds on this one.. Pinnacle DOESNT have 5.1 audio support... considering theyve bought out steingberg, i would like to think that one day it will... on top of that, steinberg have DTS encoder plugins for their audio applicaitons, which i am hopin will also be integrated to their video edit apps. Ive tried Edition Pro 5, and uninstalled it as i dont like the idea of ALL my media files (Video, audio and still image files) being associated with it, especially when it didnt give me a choice. I dont like apps that take over my system and as i use my system for audio, i have certain confgis which this application overwrote and almost ruined. Thats one thing i HATE about some appplications and unfortunately Edition5 does this too... Im sticking wth studio7 for hollywood fx ONLY... the rest of my work is done in Vegas |

Thanks
Two good responses. My concerns were which editing system has nicer effects and more professional looking output.

Hi Hugh,
I'm an Edition user but have never used Vegas and so won't comment on which is better than which. However, why don't you pop along to the Liquid Edition forums, in which is a sub-forum where some people have posted their videos for download. This way you will get a good idea of what Eidtion is capable of. I'm sure Vegas have their own forums where you might be able to do the same thing. Here's the link to the Pinnacle Liquid Edition Forums. The Liquid Edition Community sub forum is the one with the sample videos in. |
