Firewire playback on PC
I have a need to play back directly from the camera to my laptop at preferably, full screen - DV Std Def. The question is how to do it ?
So far I have only been able to go into Vegas and go to capture and play from there but of course this is cumbersome and the viewing area is limited. Are there any playback only programs that actually let you play from a firewire/DV input ? RonC. |

Our Enosoft DV Processor can do it and it takes just three clicks. If it's too expensive for just that function (it is free for personal use), you can use a utility called GraphEdit from Microsoft. A bit clunky to set up the first time but after that you can load the configuration from a file. I'd be happy to provide guidance.

Hi Ron..........
Ulead Video Studio X (X = latest release, I've got 8, think it's 11) allows full screen viewing from the pc's firewire port of whatever the camera is seeing or plays from tape.
Correct, the tape doesn't need to be running, the camera just needs to be on. There's a freebie download available from Ulead. It only does SD (the full version is required for HD) but sounds fine for you application. CS |

Thanks John & Chris. I tried Pinnacle but not Ulead, however, I would prefer a simple stand alone program rather than have to bother with another editing program so I will try Graph Edit for now and see if it is reasonably easy to use.
I just tried going to the MS site for Graph Edit but got lost in all the microsoft gobbledegook. Further, when I typed in "Graph Edit Program" Microsoft couldn't find anything !! Useless if you just want something simple ! The're worse than a Gov. Dept. Any help though would be appreciated John. RonC. |
