Flickering Screen Problems with Premiere CS3 -- Mouse Related?

Here's the problem:

When I have Premiere CS3 running, and I move my cursor across the 'surface' of the program, all open windows, visible icons, dialogue screens, etc. (in Premiere or outside of it) flicker, flash, re-render, etc. As it turns out, my CPU usage shoots to 100% when this happens, too.

If Premiere is not the 'foreground' program (like if I have firefox running in the foreground), moving my mouse over the Premiere side of the screen doesn't cause any bad effects.

I've got a decent CPU (Athlon x2, 2gig dual core).
Just upgraded the GPU to 512mb (biggest I could get on my AGP slot)

Any ideas why this odd mouse-movement-related flickering is happening?

Probably the Intellipoint mouse driver. Try to disable or remove the driver. The latest version should (at least partly) solve this issue.

Thanks, but I've tried that. Tried installing latest version, uninstalling and going with Logitech drivers (which are what my mouse prefers). Nothing seems to be working. Any other ideas?

Just solved it. Turns out that having an old ATI Remote Wonder (a USB-based remote control) caused conflicts with other pointer devices.

I came across this by accident, and now that I've disabled the remote, everything works fine.

Anyone need a new AGP graphics card?
