Selective colorization in Schindler's List
I was wondering what technique they used to color that little girl in Shindler's List, I know it's used all over the place, but how could I duplicate this w/ DV?
Thanks in advance.

It'll involve some post production. Do you edit on PC or Mac?

Go to this website:
http://www.wrigleyvideo.com/videotutorial/index.htm There's a nice tutorial on how to do this effect. |

in Vegas under one of the color correcting tools, there is a preset for "desaturate all but red" I suppose you could do that manually. Just don't have anything red in the shot that you don't want to be red.

In Vegas use the secondary color corrector to just color correct a narrow spectrum of color.
One trick is to de-saturate all the colors except for the girl. There should be various viewing modes to help you out (without CC, after CC, and a black white mode showing which pixels of the picture are being affected). Or you can emphasize the girl and leave the rest of the picture alone or slightly desaturated. |
