Missing 'Fraunhofer MP3' codec in Sorenson Squeeze on FLV export
Hi guys,
The title is pretty self-explanatory, but here's what I'm trying to do. I'm loading a video (any ol' video) into Sorenson Squeeze 4.3.303.17, and I'm squeezing it to a FLV for use on the web. Anyway, under all of the Macromedia Flash Video presets, the only option for audio is "Uncompressed Audio." There is a drop-down menu there, but there are no other options to select from. The downside, of course, is that my FLV files are giant in file size, because the audio is uncompressed. I have seen many people refer to using the Fraunhofer MP3 codec for exporting to FLV videos. The problem is, I can't find it! From what I read, I'm thinking that the codec is supposed to be included with Squeeze 4.3, but am I wrong? Does it need to be purchased after the fact? One thing I have tried doing is installing the Fraunhofer MP3 codec on my computer. I did that, restarted Squeeze, but it still doesn't show up. Any ideas? I'm kind of confused as to why the only option is for uncompressed audio, because it seems to me that that kind of renders the whole option pointless. Compressing the video at 512 kbps but the audio at 1411 kbps just doesn't make much sense... :) I'd appreciate any ideas! Thanks a bunch. |

I had the same problem - if your software was originally 'bundled' with another package such as AVID, the codec wasn't included ... try contacting support.

I forgot to update this, but that's exactly what I did, Paul. Sorenson support gave me a new serial number, which enabled the MP3 codec.
