formats

please forgive me..im new at this...i captured some video footage on to my comp. i saved it as "*.wmv" how do i get premiere to edit these types of file? am i supposed to save it as a "avi" file?

please help

THe .wmv format is a compressed for the web format used by Windows Media Player. Unfortunately Premiere can't edit this file format. It would be better if you recaptured as .avi with is the Windows/Premiere native file format.
