More than one deck definition possible with Avid's XDV?
This is a workflow question. I need to define two (or more) decks with our Avid XDV 3.5.4 system. We digitize from BetaSP, DVCam, and sometimes, even from VHS. The transcoding is being handled very well with the Promax DA-MAX+ box, and control of the Beta deck is via Com1 with the Addenda adapter.
After much trial and error and some help from Promax we've been able to define the Beta to work with the XDV. When digitizing from the DSR 1500, we need to change deck definition. This is a fairly straight forward process once you know how to do it. But we have at least two assistant editors new to the XDV system who digitize after hours. It would simplify matters tremendously if there was a simple way of storing deck definitions and calling them up as needed - an idiot proof method. But so far this does not seem to be possible with the current version of the Avid XDV. I was wondering if anyone has ever needed to accomplish this same task, or if someone knows of some way to store more than one deck definition. Thank you in advance. |

If you can do scripting in AVID as you can with Vegas that might
be a way?? Didn't AVID support multiple users with different presets etc.? Or is that only for the "big" AVID systems?

Some scripting is possible with XDV but it's mainy for keyboard customizing. Since I posted the question I've found a way to do it. Not very elegant but it works once you get used to the fact that Avid will wait anywhere from 10 to 60 seconds to implement the change.
