Camcorder download files are HUGE
I am using a Sony DCR-TRV27 digital camera. I downloaded part of a video I had recorded: it came up at 7 gigabytes and ran for less than 10 minutes. Software was Pixella Imagemaker.
So I switched to VideoWave V.4. When I tried to download a longer video, it would not download and I got a message saying it was larger than the 36 gigabytes available on my HD. Help!!! Thanks |

DV is 216MB per minute. around 13GB for a hour.
7GB for 10 minutes? Thats strange... somehow you may not have been using the DV codec, uncompressed AVI instead... Try getting some better software. A good NLE like Vegas 4 costs $400, so try windows movie maker or something. |

If you are familiar with your existing video hardware and software, it is far less expensive, if you computer is of recent vintage, to install a larger drive. If what you have, works, then just add storage.
Rule of thumb is to figure 1 gigabyte for 5 minutes of DV video and audio.
