Settings when exporting movie

When i export my timeline to avi (movie)
1. Do i save it to my hard drive
2. Do i burn it right to a dvd disc
3. what settings should i set it on is there a standard

I am a rookie at this so these might be lame questions but i need the help

Also how large should a movie file be at dvd quality for about an hour.

What you can or should do all depends on what software you
have. Please tell us more about your system and specific needs.
Which Editor are you using? Probably Premiere. Which version?

For example if you have Vegas 4 + DVD you get a complete
system to all the things you want with instructions on how to
do it.
