Passing altered files between After Effects and Premiere
I'm just starting to work with AE 5.5 production bundel
I have footage from 2 cameras that I wanted to color correct in AE and then edit in Premiere So I imported the project I had made in Premiere to AE- created an adjustment layer for the clips that needed the correction Now I want to render the clips so that I don't need to make a new Premiere project- Thus I need to alter the orrigional footage insted of making copys of the originals. Can you do this? If not, how can I get Premiere to render each layer under the adjustment layer as a seperate file? --Visual representation-- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA C1________________ C2_____________________ C3_____________ C4______ A=Adjustment layer C1-C4= Clips needing rendering as either altered origional footage or each as seperate clips. |

Isaac,
EDIT your footage FIRST! It is a lot harder process and can really change how you look/see your movie. This also can change which shots you connect and therefor how they should look to you. A movie's feeling can change dramatically from on edit to the next if you want. The question is how do you do color correction AFTER you are done with editing. You can IMPORT Premiere project DIRECTLY into After Effects. BUT, the only thing it will import is the footage and straight cuts. So things like (fancy) transitions and dissolves will NOT be imported. I would suggest you simply export the project from Premiere to Microsoft DV/AVI or to uncompressed AVI and import that into After Effects. After you are done there you can export it either to a DVD package for example or back to tape in DV format.
