Is the HD2 used in the SD review better than yours?

I was looking through the SD review of the HD2, and noticed the sample pictures seemed to have better latitude. I have been mindful for an long time, that companies improve their cameras and sensors over the life of an model. There's also the question, if the cheap grey market cameras are of the same quality as full priced ones.
