Is it possible to get live component from the HD1/HD1a, and USB2 transmission modes?

Hi,

I was under the understanding that you could not get live component output while you were filming. But a while ago I read something that seemed to imply that live HD was possible from component while filming through an portable base adaptor.

I am also interested in what sort of HD transmission you can get over USB2 while filming, is it straight 9Mb/s Mpeg4, or is it something far better?

I have been exploring cheap component recording possibilities recently, and the Sanyo HD1 might be an good option.

Thanks

Wayne.

I thought the point was that you couldn't get uncompressed HD when you went live via component - i.e. that it was every bit as compressed as if you recorded it...

I can't test it, but I would be surprised if you couldn't get live, compressed HD via component.

Of course, I could be wrong.

If I understood the question, the answer is no. If you put the HD1 into its dock in recording mode, there is no output via component (as there is in playback).

Thanks for that.

What about if you are not actually recording, but just using the camera as a wired camera, maybe with that cable adaptor?
