Playback issues
OK, after testing my personal clips on a PC and 2 different types of TVs, I have found some issues that affect my satisfaction. I tested using a 852X480 EDTV Panasonic Plasma which normally upscales HD content to 1080i, and a 1366X768 Syntax Olevia LCD HDTV.
Panny 42" Plasma - Component input does not work, the particular model of Plasma I have does not accept 720P input. Composite (red/yellow/white) plays but jaggies appear during playback. Syntax 26" LCD - Component input works fine, jaggies only visible in certain motion or panning situations. Some clips have no jaggies at all even during motion or panning. Content under good lighting rivals HDTV content. Conclusion - if viewing HD content is paramount, make sure your TV accepts 720P. I guess it's time to start shopping for a new HDTV ! |

I had the same composite video problem you are reporting.
Alternatively you can plug your laptop directly into the VGA port, I parked a old laptop and use it as "VCR" with great results. Bo www.bophoto.com/HDV |
