Even More Findings on HD1
Manual settings are a shot in the dark for video - but it can be done. The HD1 loves to search auto exposure all over the place - very disconcerting. You must set EVERYTHING to manual - including ISO. The problem is that the viewfinder doesn't tell you anything about the picture you will get with those settings.
My suggestion is to set shutter speed to 1/30, and try maybe f/5.6 or so with ND on, set ISO to 50, and try this (for sunny day). I would try changing aperture to get good exposure, and as necessary for lower light remove ND filter, and ratchet up ISO setting. It will take some time, but with some experience you will get better. It is GREAT not to see exposure hunting all over the place. The only way you can evaluate exposure though is to shoot a little clip While you are doing all this, you might as well run color temperature manually as well. Let us know if you find an easier way!
