Mini as a player?

Hi Peter,

Great to hear your Mini is performing so well for you! Now that we've established the power of the Mini for encoding, I'm curious about our other aspect... playback.

How does the Mini perform with various HD formats? Have you tried formats requiring greater throughput than 720p? How is it on 720p native and re-encoded? I see specs for the Mini-Dualcore say it can do 1080i and p, but I'm guessing that's restricted to presentation from a digital input. Either 1080 output considering the Mini's SMA archetecture would be a true feat of engineering. I'd love to know the system's maximum capability.

Also, do you feel the interface could double as a player, or is it tedious to navigate?

If this system will function as both an editor and player, it might be the best <$1G HDV player on the market.
