Can't open HD2 MP4 in Vegas
I took some clips with my HD2 but can't edit them in vegas.
In Vegas 7 it says "An error occured while opening one or more files. An unexpected error has occured. File ....could not be opened" In Vegas 8 which I just purchased it says "An error occured while opening one or more files. The file format plugin for the specified format was not properly initialized File .... could not be opened" I tried enabling more codecs in ffdshow. I have enabled pretty much everyhing in both the VFW decoder and Video Codec codec menus. I have set the Properties of the video template to 720 30p. On the web somewhere it suggests that "The file format plugin for the specified format was not properly initialized" indicates that the software has not been registered. And indeed I had not yet registered. But when I did, it did not make any difference. And I think that some people on the forums are having success with Vegas 6. I am using the top, pro version not the movie studio (which by the way, I liked at least as much if not more because of the show me how function) Last edited by Timothy Takemoto; October 27th, 2007 at 04:30 AM. Reason: added screen shots of the errors |

Solution - reinstall quicktime
Thanks to a suggestion from someone on steve's digicam forum, I solved the problem by reinstalling quicktime.
Perhaps when I installed quicktime a long time ago I elected not to install any codecs. Vegas seems to be using the quicktime codes to open mp4. |
