Making My Own Monopod
Anyone have any luck converting a ski pole into a monopod?
Anyone have a source for an adapter that can mount to a ski pole that will screw into the camera? Thanks. Dennis Vogel |

By the time you buy the adapter plate you may as well buy an inexpensive monopod. The ski pole would also be a tad short wouldn't it. JMO

Don't know about ski poles, but I've seen high tech walking sticks with a 1/4 x 20 screw for use as a monopod. Try rei.com.

The poles are extendable cross country poles so I think they come up to about eye level. I haven't dragged one up from the basement yet so I'm going on memory. If it's more expensive I probably won't go that route. It just seems "nice" to reuse something. Kind of negative snob appeal. Dennis Vogel |
