After failures of the first two GoPro Hero 4 Black action cams that I had to return to the company for replacement, the third one arrived via FedEx Friday appears to be working as promised. I shot footage at various settings, including 120 fps in poor light on a dance floor last night and found the footage good and usable.
GoPro's support responded quickly when I contacted them about the first camera in late December when it started color shifting and locking up. A replacement sent out in January had problems from the start, including overheating, lockups and no functioning wi-fi. The support crew tired upgrades to the firmware, different micro cards and other remedies but told me to return it as well last Tuesday. Another replacement was sent overnight just in time to join my 3+ Black as secondary cameras to use with my Canon C100 and a 5D Mark III on a shoot this weekend. After running the tests Friday night, I'm hopeful we will have all cameras functioning for the project.
